Shariah: Zamfara Govt to introduce Mufty Council
Zamfara State Executive Governor, Hon. Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle ( Matawallen Maradun) has announced his administration’s plan to introduce Mufti Council in the state in order to strengthen the Shari’a legal system.
The Governor who made this known today when he received members of Zawwiyar Sheik Balarabe Gusau under leadership of Khalifah Ibrahim Balarabe who paid him a. congratulatory visit at the Government House, Gusau.
Governor Matawalle said his administration will introduce the Mufti Council in the state with the view of strengthening the Shari’a legal system in the state.
He said, the Mufti Council will encompass all Islamic sects and that a legislation will soon be made to this effect through the state House of Assembly so that the council will guide his government with positive Islamic advise.
He further said that the Mufti Council will also be formed in all the 14 local government areas so as to cover the whole the state
The Governor also called on the Islamic Scholars to promote the good teachings of Islam towards the promotion of unity, understanding and tolerance among the Muslim Ummah and to also educate people especially the youth on the importance of peaceful coexistence.
Governor Matawalle then assured of his government’s readiness to support all Islamic activities that will foster unity among all communities in the state.
He called on all the Islamic sects in the state to come and join hands with his government in order to move the state forward.
Earlier in his address spokesperson of the Zawiyya, Sheik Dr. Atiku Balarabe Zawiyya said they were at the Government House in order to congratulate the Governor over his victory at the last governorship election in the state and also thank him over his efforts at securing the release of their brother, Malam Ibrahim Ibrahim who has been in detention in Saudi Arabia.
He prayed Allah to guide the governor to discharge his responsibilities creditably and successfully.
