 As Borno empowers youths, Zulum said time of political thuggery is over
About 2, 762 youths across Maiduguri and environs, who used to engage in political thuggery, have been empowered with a seed capital to enable them engage in petty trades.

Governor Babagana Zulum, flagging off the Youth Empowerment Scheme where 2,762 youth hitherto refered to as ECOMOG will benefit from, said he was optimistic that this was the end of political thuggery in the state.

“I assure you that within months  4,000 youths would be empowered to start a new trade of their choice,” he said.

He, however, warned that anyone caught creating public nuisance will  face the full wrath of the law.

The governor said political thuggery is a waste of valuable human resources.

“We will build the capacity of youth towards economic productivity and social emancipation. Let me say that today marks the beginning to end of political thuggery and a new dawn to political decency and decorum in Borno,”  Zulum said.

Also speaking, the state’s APC party Chairman, Ali Dalori said, the launching of the programme was a fulfillment of one of Zulum’s campaign promises.
