Fear Grips Magumeri Community as Gunmen Block Maiduguri – Magumeri Road, Kills Two Passengers

The current situation of Maiduguri – Gubio Road is so alarming and deteriorating which leaves the entire residents in the state grievances.

According to Magumeri Social Media Forum (MSF), a community developmental forum, the bandits used to block and pillages the road for over a week.

The gunmen blocked Maiduguri – Magumeri road between Goni Awanari and Shettimari villages, Goni Awanari and Shettimari villages is 3 – 5KM from Magumeri, the headquarter of Magumeri LGA and 37KM from Maiduguri, the state capital.

On Monday 14th September 2020, gunmen who reported to be bandits blocked the road, plundered a huge amount of funds and gruesomely murdered two innocent passengers.

It was also gathered that Maiduguri – Gajiganna road was blocked and plundered by the bandits which they removed the clothes of the entire passengers making them to appear naked.

“We are so depressed and saddened with the current situation which we can’t even be able to continue with rearing of our animals, farming as a means of our livelihood and other normal daily activities.”

“We call on the federal government and state government under the able leadership of Gov. Zulum to look into this matter with a view to provide a possible and lasting solutions to restore security.” A resident stated.
