Ramadan Tafsir: JIBWIS did not have powers to post Sheikh Gumi

Ramadan Tafsir: JIBWIS did not have powers to post Sheikh Gumi

By DESERT HERALD

It would be called that prior to the commencement of the annual Ramadan Tafsir nationwide, one of the two contending faction of the leadership of Jama’atu Izalatul Bidi’a Wa Ikamatus Sunnah, JIBWIS, under Malam Abdullahi Bala Lau have released a statement in which among other scholars they claimed to have posted Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi to Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna to preside over the 2019 Ramadan Tafsir.

In a statement by the umbrella body of the late Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gumi institute, “Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gumi Innitiative for the Propagation of Sunnah” with its head office at the residence of the late revered Sheikh, the Innitiative in a statement through it’s spokesman, Mallam Tukur Mamu has faulted the claims of the faction of Izala regarding the annual Ramadan Tafsir of Sheikh Ahmad Gumi at the historic mosque.

The statement stated that Sheikh Ahmad Gumi started the Ramadan Tafsir at the mosque since 2004 and that there is no single input or influence from those that are now assuming powers they actually don’t have over who to conduct Ramadan Tafsir at Sultan Bello Mosque.

The statement said Sheikh Gumi did not belong to any faction of Izala and that as a learned scholar with sufficient knowledge of the Qur’an and Allah’s specific instruction on unity, adherence and recognition of single leadership and against all forms of division, he did not recognise any of the two leadership of Izala and as such none has the power to determine where he will do Tafsir not to talk of posting him.

The Innitiative said by virtue of the seat Sheikh Gumi is occupying today which is the same seat presided over by his late father and considering his vast knowledge in Islamic jurisprudence, he is a father to all Izala/Sunni followers and that is why he always admonished them to respect the instructions of Allah by uniting under one leadership and desist from class and power struggle.

As long as they continue to offend Allah and refused to unite under one leadership, the statement said the Innitiative or Sheikh Gumi will never encourage the division by recognising the leadership of any faction.

The Innitiative further said Bala Lau knows very well that he doesn’t have the powers to post Sheikh Gumi to Sultan Bello Mosque or anywhere and if he indeed has such powers, they (Bala Lau and Co) will prefer to come to Sultan Bello as the most influential mosque in Nigeria and the centre of all Izala followers to conduct their Tafsir.

The spokesman of the Innitiative further said, ” if they have the powers to post Sheikh Gumi they will equally have powers to remove him from the seat. We challenge them to remove him now since they are claiming powers of posting him. The truth is they cannot and they will never have such powers. If they actually have that monopoly and authority they would have remove Sheikh Gumi since from Sultan Bello Mosque as the presiding authority.

These are so called leaders that always wants to impose themselves on the people even when they lost prestige, respect, dignity and authority to preside over the affairs of Muslims. As we always repeat, they are just capitalist scholars that are only interested in class and power struggle. That is why you see them in an empty hall of the United Nations struggling to get the UN background to take pictures so as to show the world they have arrived, desperately trying to convince other blind followers about an influence they NEVER have.

The more they do Allah will always bring such fraudsters down because they live, eat and survive by the religion.

The press statement said the public should disregard any purported statement by any Islamic group claiming to have the powers of posting Sheikh Ahmad Gumi to Sultan Bello Mosque as there is NO group with such powers at all.

It said efforts by commercial scholars to assumed the powers they don’t have and method of their antics should be known to the general public. It directed all the students of Sheikh Gumi to desist from replying or making any offensive rejoinder to the abuses against the Sheikh by frustrated scholars.
