Hajj 2019: 487 pilgrims stranded in Kano

About 487 pilgrims have been stranded at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) Kano as Hajj rituals start Thursday night in Saudi Arabia.

A report from KANO TODAY states that the passengers paid for the Hajj through various private tour operators.

One of the stranded pilgrims, Babangida Hassan Sudawa told KANO TODAY that they received boarding passes on Wednesday from their travel agents.

Mr Sudawa said they were supposed to jet out to Saudi Arabia by 7:00am on Thursday morning.

However by afternoon, their agents told them that the flight has been cancelled. Mr Sudawa said.

As at Thursday evening, the stranded pilgrims are still at the airport while the travel agents are nowhere to be found. He added.

Meanwhile Saudi Arabian authorities have already closed all their borders as the annual Hajj pilgrimage starts on Thursday night.
