ADAN, an African group of democrats, declared Ganduje the best among the 36 that Nigeria has adding that the governor would be honoured with an award.

A report by NAN which was monitored by DESERT HERALD reports that the declaration is contained in a statement signed by Abba Anwar, the chief press secretary to Ganduje, on Sunday.

“After assessing what was achieved by all the governors in the last 100 days of their stewardship, Kano state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has been selected by the group to be awarded ‘best governor in 100 days’,” the statement said.

The statement added that the letter sent to the governor and signed by the West African regional coordinator, Samson Theodore, looked at the major sectors that were likely to improve the living standards of the people in the state as against before selecting Ganduje for the award.

“We carefully selected these areas, education, health agriculture, security, economy, infrastructural development and politics, with concentration on supremacy of political party or parties as the case may be,” the letter had said adding that Ganduje was selected after the mid-year democracy review meeting of the group.

The letter had noted that the governor’s intention to establish a college of education for women is considered a genuine policy pronouncement that would aid girl child education.

“We are amazed that your policy pronouncement on free and compulsory basic and secondary education has become a reality,” the organisation said.

This paper earlier reported how Ganduje’s government, on Thursday, June 6, reportedly queried the emir of the state, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The query reportedly had to do with the allegations leveled against the emir by an anti-corruption agency of Kano state.
