 Bauchi Governor Appoints New Muslim Pilgrims Board Leadership, Names Amirul Hajj for 2027

BAUCHI — Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has approved a new leadership for the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and appointed the Emir of Lere, Alhaji Nura Adamu Jumba, as the state’s Amirul Hajj for the 2027 pilgrimage.

Under the new arrangement, Ambassador Sulaiman Santuraki, District Head of Tirwun, has been appointed Chairman of the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, while Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Ahmed, Chiroman Gamawa and District Head of Gamawa, will serve as Deputy Chairman.

The appointments take immediate effect.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, the changes followed the recent elevation of the former District Heads of Lere and Gamawa to their respective Emirate stools.

The development, the statement said, was also in line with established tradition and the need to ensure continuity in the leadership and administration of the pilgrims’ welfare board.

In a related development, Governor Mohammed approved the appointment of the Emir of Lere, Alhaji Nura Adamu Jumba, as Bauchi State’s Amirul Hajj for the 2027 Hajj exercise.

Jumba is the outgoing Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Governor Mohammed commended the outgoing chairman and other members of the board’s leadership for their dedication and contributions to the development of the institution and the successful conduct of Hajj operations in the state over the years.

He also expressed appreciation to the traditional rulers for what he described as their meritorious service to Bauchi State, particularly their contributions to the welfare of pilgrims and the administration of Hajj affairs.

The governor congratulated the newly appointed board leaders and urged them to bring their experience and commitment to bear on their new responsibilities.

He further wished the appointees guidance, wisdom and success in their respective roles.
