Blame Past Government For Failed Oyo-Iseyin Road-Motorist
By Tunde Bamigbade
Motorists have continue to blame past Oyo state government, for failing to fix the Oyo-Iseyin road which is now in a bad state.
DESERT HERALD correspondent learnt that the road has been in deplorable condition in the last 12years, and that nothing was done by past Oyo state government, despite several appeals from motorists for government to rehabilitate the road. DESERT HERALD also learnt that the road has been taking over by the Federal Government due to the nonchalant attitude of past government to put the road into proper shape.
The chairman of Road Transport Association of Nigeria,Oyo-west Chapter in Oyo state, Mr John Adelabu, who is also a commercial bus driver spoke to DESERT HERALD on Monday in an emotional laden voice. He said why can’t Nigerian leaders give the Nigerian citizens what they deserve interms of social amenities.
Our leaders go abroad and see the kind of road they have over there. Why can’t we have the same here.If a road gets spoilt the government of those country will quickly  look for ways and means to fix the road on time.
But in Nigeria,it is not so,government will rather give excuses that will make the citizen to see them has responsible government, that have the welfare of the people at heart.
How many kilometers is this road that they can not fix.The country has the resources and the capacity to construct good roads and rehabilitate the old ones that are not motorable again.
Adelabu further said life has become unbearable for those of us that ply this road every single day.
Frankly speaking we shouldn’t be having problems with bad roads in this country because we have the people and the resources, that can do the job just like I said earlier.
The Federal government should award the construction of roads to reputable companies, that can give us durable, and motorable roads, that will last long he said.
I want to call on the attention of the minister of works Mr Babatunde Fashola to do something about the failed Oyo-Iseyin road.
