Desert Herald Mourns Veteran Journalist, Timaus Mathias
The management of Desert Herald newspapers has expressed shock and sadness over the death of a veteran journalist, Mr. Timaus Mathias.
Mathias died on Friday after a protracted illness at the age of 73.
A condolence message signed by Mr. Ibrahim Mada, the special projects manager of the company noted that the world of journalism has lost one of its finest brains.
“The death of this elder statesman is a huge blow to the journalism profession as his wealth of experience is most needed now more than anytime considering the increasing challenges Nigeria is grappling with.
“Journalism has lost one of its brightest brains and in Mathias’ death, a gaping crater which may be difficult to fill has emerged on the horizon.
“We therefore, wish to use this auspicious medium to condole with Adamawa State government, the Bachama traditional council and the good people of Adamawa over the death of our “professional icon.”
“History will be kind to the fallen hero for his valiant contributions to the fatherland and humanity. May his gentle soul rest in the bosom of the lord,” the statement said.
