Exclusive: Amidst increasing attacks, military spending, B’Haram leader, Shekau resurfaced in new exclusive videos

By Tukur Mamu
As the war against Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad popular known as Boko Haram enters its 11th year with no end in sight despite uncountable assurances to that effect by previous and current government and with military expenditure that now runs into trillions of Naira while billions are also being ‘spent’ to manage the humanitarian aspects of the avoidable national calamity that now became an unprecedented imbroglio, exclusive findings by DESERT HERALD reveals that the war to eliminate Boko Haram using military force is far from being over and may not be expected anytime soon. While combination of factors ranging from top level official corruption, internal sabotage, low morale and deplorable condition of those in the battle field, absence of encouraging incentives for the families of soldiers in the theatre of war and that of their death colleagues, lack of sufficient and latest fire fighting equipment can be largely responsible, continued mentality of the government and those that are using the war as conduit-pipe and misleading the authorities that it can be won through military ‘might’ will make the war linger for many more years to come.

There is NO war in the history of the world including the World War I and II and even those that are terrorists related that has been won by the use of military force only. As such wars lingers and as long as the enemy has demonstrated effective, convincing resistance, diplomacy are always being deployed behind the scene as the most effective weapon to negotiate a truce. This is being done by even the most sophisticated Army in the world, that of the United States. The aim is usually to minimise casualties, to provide the needed peace and comfort for the citizenry, to halt avoidable spending of taxpayers money, to allow economic growth and development, to attract investment and growth to even the most remotest of such areas and above all as a national security strategy. It is not in anyway a sign of weakness so long as it will guarantee the safety and protection of human lives and that of their dignity. But owing to the greed of very few, unchecked corruption in military spending and government’s inability to prioritise it’s mission and in the interest of its suffering people, Nigeria has over the last 10 years woefully failed in that aspect.

The rhetoric and contradictions at the highest level of government and sometimes by the military chiefs themselves about Boko Haram in particular has shown the level of incompetence and ineptitude of those that are directly managing the war. It usually goes without even indictment not to talk of sacking officials that are involved in such. Officially, the military has declared that the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau has been killed not once or twice. He has also been declared incapacitated and terminally ill. The world was even told that Boko Haram no longer has the capacity to carry attacks because “they have been decimated and technically defeated”. Very recently another deceptive rhetoric was promoted by the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai that the terrorists have now been reduced to bandits and kidnappers. That they can no longer attack. But the seemingly confused Army Chief, and an indication that they have run out of ideas and after a successful terrorists attacks in several parts of Borno State including Monguno, Gubio and Chibok do the usual contradiction few days ago by deciding to go spiritual and coming up with another rhetoric that the current war in the North East can only be won through prayers forgetting that he has launch The Operation Lafiya DOLE over three years ago and promised to bring peace DOLE meaning “certain, by force”, forgetting the spiritual aspect of Insha Allah meaning if God permit. An Emir in Yobe State was sent packing just two days ago by the rampaging insurgents while his palace was reduced to ashes. As it is, the insurgents can attack at anytime and with very little resistance if any. Communities particularly in Borno and Yobe states are becoming increasingly vulnerable to attacks despite a supposed military spending by both the federal and state governments. And everyday we hear stories of bombardment of terrorist camps by Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar’s Airforce and acquisition of ‘Drones’ we are yet to use for military operations. As a paper with very credible knowledge about the realities and politics in our military institutions, this paper can report that the Service Chiefs are very convinced that they are not near to winning the war on the Boko Haram insurgents or the ISWAP but the security briefings to Mr. President is always that of hope, deception.

While this paper believes that President Muhammadu Buhari has the desire and interest to end the war in the North East and has so far spent more than any president for that purpose, he certainly did not get the right people to handle the job which promotes the insinuations even amongst foreign military and counter terrorism experts that the current Service Chiefs are perhaps the wealthiest in the history of Nigeria.

An exclusive videos of Boko Haram’s leader, Abubakar Shekau which DESERT HERALD exclusively got has indicted the most recent claims of the military about Mr. Shekau’s purported poor health, the story of BH now being inactive and the claim that the group have been crippled. This particular exclusive video according to Shekau was recorded on 21st Muharram 1441AH which is equivalent to 20th September, 2019. In the video attached to this story Abubakar Shekau talks about the spread of Boko Haram to the neighbouring Chad Republic and call on his people to continue fighting. The actual video about 31 minutes was edited and reduced to 8 minutes by DESERT HERALD because this medium as a chief promoter and motivator of peace in the media industry believes that it is not every sensitive message that will be reported. Aspects that clearly shows the growing strength of Boko Haram, the threat they poised and messages that may make government have a rethink about its approach are our priority aspects as a news medium.

It would be recalled that late Muhammad Yusuf, the first leader of the sect granted his last interview on earth to DESERT HERALD. DESERT HERALD is also the first newspaper that reported as far back as 2009 the dangers of having any confrontation with the Islamic sect and provided very useful suggestions that would have safe thousands of lives and trillions of Naira that has been wasted with no commensurate result so far.

In the latest exclusive video, Abubakar Shekau has again confirmed that he is alive, very active, in possession of superior firearms and perhaps not a lunatic as earlier reported. He is very conscious and alert in all the videos exclusively obtained by DESERT HERALD. In this particular one he has also confirmed that one Bakura is the one he assigned as the leader of the sect in Chad and that Bakura reports directly under him. Some excerpts of Shekau message in this video which was translated from Arabic to English includes; “In the name of Allah the deficient the merciful. To my fellow brothers in the course of Allah. This is a good news message to my Muslims brothers in Chad and and others. All thanks and glory be to Allah. Fear Allah oh you Muslims. Understand the present situation of what Islam is facing now. You strike till the whole world bears nothing but Islam. You should know the strength of this religion of Allah, no matter what we know that the unbelievers will try to stop it from succeeding but they will surely fail. Pain will they extinguish Allah’s light with their mouths, but Allah will not allow but that His light should be perfected even though the unbelievers may detest (it). It is must on every Muslims to listen and obey the truth whether it suit him or not. Unless if ordered to commit sin then you must not obey in disobedience to Allah. May Allah destroy democracy and the western education schools and the places where sins are committed. Oh Allah bring to us the the government that only practice what is written in your book. I am your brother on the path of Allah, Abu Mohammad Abubakar bin Mohammad Shakawiyyu, leader of Sunnah followers of West Africa.
