Gov Bala to open up Bauchi with modern roads
…As Gov Wike commends the milestone in Bauchi

After the successful completion of many township roads in the capital city and in some local government councils during the last one year, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has made another history on Saturday as he launches yet another laudable innitiative of opening up Bauchi with modern roads.
DESERT HERALD reports that the historic flagging off of the township roads construction in the state capital and Bununu town of Tafawa Balewa local was witnessed by the Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike.

Before Saturday’s historic event, Gov Bala has paid full compensation to all the owners of houses whose properties will be demolish to pave way for the road projects.
Governor Bala has assured his citizens and the special guest, Gov Wike that with the official flagging off of the projects, the road construction will commence immediately.

During the event, an elated resident of the Area has gave his only car as part of his own contribution to ensure effective monitoring of the road construction and as his own way of thanking the governor for coming up with the important project. Having sacrificed his only car, Gov Bala was so moved by the gesture of the patriotic citizen and as a gesture too promised that his government will build a brand new house as well as buy a new car to the resident that offered his car.

In his remark, Gov Wike has commended Gov Bala for his outstanding leadership qualities and his vision of bringing development closer to his people. Gov Wike said he was convinced by the peoples oriented projects of Gov Bala and is pleased with the idea of opening up the state with modern roads that is why he accepted Gov Bala invitation.

He commended the Bauchi State government under Gov Bala for achieving so much within one year and described the Bauchi governor as his reliable friend.
Gov Wike said unlike most states, Bauchi is amongst the few disadvantaged state with low revenue but yet the governor has achieve a lot.

Gov Bala on his part said unlike other states his state relies largely on federal statutory allocation and that prior to his coming, internally generated revenue (IGR) of Bauchi is about N300m per month but the transparency he brought increased it to over N700m and hopes to keep improving.

Apart from Gov Wike, the occasion was witnessed by many dignitaries including members of state and national assembly across political party divide, the Emir of Bauchi, HRH Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Suleiman Y. Abubakar (Dangaladiman Ningi), the former Chairman Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Pastor Kennedy Okpara, DESERT HERALD publisher, Mallam Tukur Mamu (Dan-Iyan Fika), Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr Ladan Salihu as well as many dignitaries.
