 Gov Matawalle sets up Committee on the suspended Emir of Maru, Bandits
Governor Bello Mohammed Mutawalle of Zamfara state has inaugurated a committee to find lasting solution to armed banditry in the state and investigate the violent uprising that was carried out against the suspended Emir of Maru, Alh Abubakar Chika Ibrahim

He said the idea of constituting a high powered committee was borne out of his administration’s desire to get to the root cause of the lingering security challenges that has  bedevilled the state for a long time.

Governor Mutawalle said the task before the committee was to examine the immediate and remote causes of banditry and other waves of crimes across Zamfara State .

He added that the corporate existence of the state had been at stake where people no longer sleep with their two eyes closed while farming and other economic activities are no longer safe because of the activities of armed bandits .

The Governor further said that his government is determined to ensure that the findings of the committee would serve as a working document in settling the issue of banditry once and for all.

The nine-member Committee is chaired by the former Inspector General of Police, MD Abubakar.

Other members of the committee are  Senator Saidu Mohammed Dansadau, Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi.(Wamban Shinkafi), Justice Nasiru Gummi, Alh Mamman Anka Cp rtd ,Alh Mamuda Maradun and Alh Bawa Ibrahim while Permanent Secretary Home affairs and Director Public Prosecution will Serve as Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.

In his acceptance speech, Chairman of the Committee promised to carry out the committee’s assignment diligently.
