How bandits kill Mamu’s brother, an airman on the line of duty

One of the blood brothers of the publisher of Desert Herald, Mal. Tukur Mamu who is currently in the detention facility of Department of State Security Services (DSS) was a fortnight ago killed by bandits while on the line of service to defend his fatherland.

The slain soldier, Baba Saleh Mamu, an Air force airman, was killed during an exchange with the dreaded bandits in Zamfara State.

Mamu’s family was known to have played a great role in the Nigeria’s security and defence architecture by having a number of family members in the armed Forces.

Despite being a civilian, Tukur Mamu has played a valiant role at ensuring that the current insecurity in the land is nipped in the bud through a multi pronged approach.

A member of the family noted with dismay how Mamu, a man who cannot hurt a fly was arrested based on trumped up charges despite the noble role and sacrifices he is making to ensure the return of peace in the land.

The family member who craved anonymity noted that, “it beats my imagination to note with dismay how Mamu, a man of peace and justice could be harangued and persecuted in such an odious manner.

“In order climes, Mamu would have been celebrated as a hero but not in Nigeria where purveyors of blood and anarchy who feed fat at the expense of the blood of innocent persons reign.

“We will not rest on our oars till justice prevails and the ugly faces of the masterminds of the insecurity are unveiled.”
