Member Representing Igabi Constituency, Hon Zayyad laments Insecurity in the area
The Honourable Member representing Igabi Federal Constituency, Rt. Honourable Zayyad Ibrahim condemned the killing of about five innocent people by armed bandits in Sharu Village of Igabi Local Government, Kaduna State.
In a press conference held in his office on Monday 22nd July, 2019, the Member revealed that on Friday the 19th day of July, 2019 at about 9pm, the armed bandits imbedded the village and launched house to house attack for about four hours, the bandits seriously injured people who are currently hospitalised, seized money and some valuables from the innocent people, and eventually escaped with about twenty cows.
The attack rendered the people helpless as they started moving out of the village to the neighbouring villages for their safety. He therefore called on the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to consider the victims as a matter of urgency.
The member commiserated with the Local Government Chairman – Hon. Jabir Khamis in particular, and the entire people of Sabon Birni Ward for the condemned attack.
He further lamented on the level at which the acts of banditry and kidnapping occur most often in some villages within the constituency, despite the security measures seriously taken by the State Government. He urged the Federal Government to do the needful before the challenge gets out of hand.
Zayyad Ibrahim hinted that, Igabi Local Government is one of the largest local government in Kaduna State, covers an area approximately 3,727 square kilometres, with about 581,500 population as projected in 2016. It also has 12 political wards complemented by about 322 villages. Unfortunately, despite the population and security challenges, there are only three (3) Police Divisions within the Local Government, supported by few outposts.
The Law maker concluded by urging the stakeholders as a matter of urgency, to increase the number of Police Divisions and Outposts in the constituency, and recruit more competent people, while the existing personnel should be subjected to special trainings in line with the global trends to tackle these hilarious acts of kidnapping and banditry.
