Motorists using the busy Eleekara-Oyo road in the out skirt of Oyo town, Oyo state, has berated the administration of the former Governor of Oyo state Senator Abiola Ajimobi for ignoring the road at the mercy of the road users, which is now in a bad state.
A motorist who simply wish to be identified as Olayemi spoke to DESERT HERALD correspondent on Monday. Olayemi said the last administration of Abiola Ajimobi abandoned the road without any concrete reason in the last 3years.
“Ajimobi’s government never cared to fix the road despite complaints from motorist that ply the road on daily basis. I don’t know why Ajimobi failed to fix a 13kilometer road despite the state resources at his disposal.
I just hope that the present government under the leadership of Seyi Makinde will come to our aid and fix the road.
Another motorist who also wished to be identified as Akin said Nigerian leaders do not care about the welfare of its people from what we have seen. Eleekara-Oyo road is an example.
It is during election campaign period they come to curry the people for votes by making empty promises they will not fulfill. The road in question has been in deplorable condition in the last 3years. Am sure the road would have been included in their campaign.
Farmers from Ilora and other villages in Oyo find it hard to transport their farm produce to the Eleekara market, because of the bad road had to seek for alternative routes to get their goods to the market for sale.
I will use this medium to appeal to the present state government to please fix the road as soon as possible”, he pleaded.
