The management board of Petroleum Equalization Fund under the headship of the Executive Secretary, Ahmed Bobboi, commended the DESERT HERALD newspaper and Magazines for its known investigative package.
The commendation was made during a media engagement with media practitioners held at the exclusive NAF conference center, Abuja, aimed at strengthening relationship and partnership for better information dissemination as well as enlightening the general public on the activities of the petroleum equalization fund.
During the engagement the executive secretary Ahmed A. Bobboi, applauded media outfits, specifically, DESERT HERALD Newspaper for its insightful coverage for public consumption.
Accordingly, the secretary further explained the activities of PEF and the achievements recorded so far in improving the nation’s economic development.
Bobboi, answered questions from media practitioners on the activities of PEF especially as it affected it before the coronavirus and after the covid 19 endemic spread.
He explained that Downstream Automated Fuel Management Information System, DAFMIS, is a new system designed to make PEF operation more efficient and enable it to work better with key stakeholders in the downstream petroleum sector, and help in eliminating waste, minimize losses and ensure maximum return on investment.
Bobboi further said that DAFMIS provides marketers access to a dashboard that shows their associated assets such as outlets and trucks.
“The dashboard will also incorporate the history of the past transactions and the status of current ones. “DAFMIS would ensure accountability of products from import, loading and receiving to outlets providing visibility for all stakeholders and provide information that will help marketers and transporters to better plan their operations and realize corporate goals”, he stated further.
The information provided will be accessible to only authorized user’s i.e a marketer can only see information that is relevant to their own business.
On whether the information be used for Tax purposes, he said it will be used for planning purposes, policy, support, service improvements, accountability and enhanced participation from all stakeholders.
The ES said DAFMIS will not track product quantities dispensed at outlets but will only ensure that products loaded at deport are delivered to approved outlets.
He informed that PEF management board, in fulfilling its mandate of equalizing the price of petroleum products and generate information on the volume of consumption and distribution in the product, will also ensure its safety and security for products owners, and also provide relevant organizations with information that can improve their operation efficiency.
