We’ll Over Haul Civil Service in Bauchi State – State Head Of Service
BY UMAR USMAN DUGURI
The acting head of civil service of Bauchi state, Dr. Bala Mohammed Lukshi, pledged to overhaul Bauchi state civil service for optimum results and turn it around as against the present situation of stagnation and low service delivery.
The new head of civil service of the state stated this during his birthday message to Governor Bala Mohammed at 62, as according to him the sixty-two years of Governor Bala Mohammed are full of progressive contributions to Nigeria’s civil service and unprecedented achievements to human and capital development. The statement, which was made available to this medium, added that “Your Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammed, your human development and capital contributions cannot be quantified, have done remarkably well worthy of emulation.
“Your achievements in impacting on people’s lives are enough to commend you and pray for more fruitful years ahead to do more. Being a onetime seasoned civil servant, one of the state’s longest serving ministers and now a governor of Bauchi state, at 62 you are now making history in executing vital capital projects graced by the famous investigative newspaper publisher, Mallam Tukur Mamu of Desert Herald and Governor Nyesom Wike amongst others.”
Dr. Lukshi, further used the avenue to stress his good intention to overhaul the civil service in the state that has been neglected, resulting in its failure to yield productivity. According to him, the neglect has led to abuse of the civil service by some unpatriotic workers in the state that engaged in shoddy deals of faking ghost workers, insertion of bogus and nonexistent names and account numbers, lack of punctuality in resuming office, sabotaging government efforts, lackadaisical attitudes in managing government offices or properties and so on.
“I’m determined to make the difference in Bauchi state to support Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration to achieve its desired goals in rationalizing the system.
Though, on my assumption of office I discovered a lot of anomalies in the service but based on the recent records from last year 2019 to date, it’s quite impressive. The government is upright to ameliorate the living condition and welfare of civil servants; which include the ongoing massive construction 2500 houses for workers statewide and prompt payment of salaries on or before 25th of every month. I think the governor deserves a kudos!
“The recent action of Governor Bala Mohammed in setting a credible committee to ascertain the exact figures of salaries and subsequent arrests of some corrupt civil servants in pension board and suspension of Nafisa Abdullahi, is a commendable feat to restore sanity in the civil service by the Governor,” he noted.
