 Adamawa people unveils Gov Fintiri’s achievements in 30 days as Governor

Though Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has just spent a moment as Governor and at the helm of affairs in Adamawa State, the former law maker according to the people of the state and as confirmed by DESERT HERALD’s survey has achieved unprecedented success in a state that is yearning for development and good governance.

Since assuming power, Mr. Fintiri has been very active and unrelenting in providing the needed leadership to the people of the state. DESERT HERALD can report that within the short period the governor has left no one in doubt about his ability and capacity to deliver.

Within the period under review, Governor Fintiri has achieved remarkable progress in the hitherto fragile security in the state. With the massive support he gave to the security agencies particularly the Police in converting crime, over 60 kidnappers that are terrorising the state and about 250 shila cult boys were arrested.

Governor Fintiri has also made the highest investment so far in the ailing education sector in the state. His ability to start at the grassroots in the education sector has gave a lot of hope to parents that have before now lost hope in the quality of education the state is providing. Fintiri has made immediate payment of matching grant so as to enable the state secure N8.2 billion UBEC funds. Fintiri will use the fund to rehabilitate 5000 public schools across the state.

The governor has also introduced free feeding of students in 9 public boarding schools. These pilot scheme according to the government will be subsequently implemented in all the 52 boarding school across the state.

In an effort to encourage free and compulsory education in the state, Governor Fintiri has also abolished the payment of school fees in all the public primary and secondary schools across the state. He has also within the short period upgraded the College of Legal Studies, Yola to a University Faculty of Law, under ADSU.

The agricultural sector in Adamawa has also received a boast from the new Governor as he has approved the immediate establishment of stock shop in the 21 Local Governments Areas across the state for easy access to farm imput.

In supporting the federal government’s initiative, the Adamawa Governor within the last one  month has granted full autonomy to the Local Governments Councils and had promised that LGAs in the state will administer their resources without government influence.

To boast business activities in the state and to support local business, Mr. Fintiri DESERT HERALD learnt has approved 50 percent reduction in shop rent at the government owned Jimeta Ultramodern Market, Yola.

The Adamawa State Government under Mr. Fintiri has also succeeded in clearing the most worrisome dustbin and garbage alone FUTY road Jimeta bypass.

Above all Governor as a priority has so far embraced due process, justice, transparency and accountability of our lean resources of the state.
