BAUCHI 2027: WHO IS NPFFT, AND WHOSE INTERESTS ARE THEY REALLY SERVING?
The purported call by the so-called Nationwide Patriotic Entrance for Tinubu (NPFFT) for Mohammed Abubakar to relinquish the APC governorship ticket in Bauchi State is nothing but a questionable political intervention that raises serious suspicions about the motives of its sponsors.
Before this group attempts to dictate the political future of Bauchi State or determine who should fly the APC flag in 2027, Nigerians deserve answers to fundamental questions: Who are its members? Where are its recognised structures? What is its actual political strength in Bauchi State? And on whose authority does it presume to speak on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s supporters?
A group whose identity, membership and grassroots standing have not been independently established cannot simply issue political ultimatums and expect the APC to surrender to its demands.
If NPFFT is a legitimate organisation with genuine grassroots support, let it demonstrate that credibility. If it claims to have conducted extensive consultations, let it identify the stakeholders consulted and present verifiable evidence supporting its conclusions. Bauchi’s political future cannot be determined by anonymous political calculations, questionable declarations or the interests of individuals who may have their own ambitions to protect.
The attempt to pressure Mohammed Abubakar into abandoning his candidacy raises a more disturbing question: Are these individuals genuinely interested in the success of the APC, or are they working to weaken the party from within for the benefit of political opponents?
The timing and substance of this intervention warrant serious scrutiny. It would be irresponsible to dismiss the possibility that certain interests within the political establishment are attempting to manufacture division, demoralise party loyalists and undermine the APC’s prospects before the 2027 elections.
If evidence emerges that APC members are sponsoring such interventions to sabotage their own party, they must be held politically accountable through the party’s legitimate disciplinary structures.
MOHAMMED ABUBAKAR DOES NOT OWE HIS TICKET TO SELF-APPOINTED POLITICAL ARBITERS
Mohammed Abubakar’s political standing should not be determined by the pronouncements of a pressure group whose credibility and representative mandate remain unverified. His candidacy must be assessed through legitimate party processes, credible evidence and the democratic choices available to APC members and the electorate.
Those who argue that a former governor cannot return to office because he previously lost an election must explain why they believe voters should be denied the opportunity to reconsider their choices. Political fortunes change, public opinion evolves, and no individual or group has an exclusive right to determine the outcome of an election before voters cast their ballots.
The APC must not allow political blackmail, manufactured controversies or questionable pressure campaigns to dictate its decisions.
The party belongs to its members, and the ultimate political mandate belongs to the electorate—not to self-appointed kingmakers operating behind the cover of patriotic organisations.
BAUCHI STATE CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER POLITICAL MISTAKE
The people of Bauchi deserve a government that serves their interests, respects democratic principles and delivers meaningful development. As the state approaches another electoral contest, the APC should concentrate on building a credible alternative, uniting its supporters and presenting a compelling vision for the future.
Those who genuinely love Bauchi State should be working towards these objectives rather than creating unnecessary controversies over an existing candidacy.
It is particularly unfortunate if individuals claiming to support President Tinubu are contributing to divisions that could weaken the APC’s position in the state. Supporting the President should not become a convenient label for advancing personal interests or imposing private political preferences on the party.
President Tinubu’s name must not be used as a political shield by individuals whose actions may ultimately damage the APC.
We therefore call on the national leadership of the APC to examine this intervention carefully, establish the identity and standing of the group involved, and ensure that any complaints concerning the Bauchi governorship ticket are handled through recognised party channels.
The party must also be alert to any credible evidence of internal sabotage and take appropriate action against anyone found to be deliberately undermining its electoral interests.
OUR MESSAGE IS CLEAR
Mohammed Abubakar should not be intimidated into abandoning his candidacy by a declaration whose credibility, evidence and political mandate remain unclear.
Those opposed to his candidacy are free to make their arguments, but they must do so honestly, transparently and through legitimate democratic processes. They must not mistake their personal preferences for the collective will of APC members or the people of Bauchi State.
Bauchi is not the private property of any political faction. The APC is not the personal estate of any individual. And the 2027 election is not a contest that can be decided in advance by political declarations issued in Abuja.
The people of Bauchi will ultimately determine their future through the ballot box. Until then, the APC must resist attempts to sow division, expose any proven acts of internal sabotage and remain focused on the task of offering the people a credible alternative.
Those who claim to be patriots must prove it through their actions. Those who claim to speak for President Tinubu must demonstrate that their interventions serve the party’s interests. And those demanding Mohammed Abubakar’s withdrawal must provide credible evidence—not political rhetoric—to justify their position.
The APC must not surrender its political future to questionable pressure campaigns. Bauchi State deserves better, and the Nigerian electorate deserves the truth.
